Imbolg celebrations in Erris.
Gaol Siar held a wonderful Imbolg celebration to mark the arrival of spring.
Guests enjoyed a talk from Sheila McHugh who lectures in religious studies in GMIT, Sheila introduced us to the history of Bridgett the Celtic goddess and St. Bridgid the Christian saint.
Afterwards we all enjoyed the St. Bridgids cross workshop, where stories of different cross making traditions were exchanged.
Following a traditional Irish lunch the guests enjoyed a guided walk of Blacksod including the famine village and stories of Celtic and early Christian settlements in the area. Thankfully the rain held off and the bright crisp Spring day was enjoyed by all.
